Serge/4U System

Handbuilt Serge/4U modular synthesizer, complemented by low level digital modules of my design. The left two panels are constructed as a single unit from aluminum enclosures that house early Serge modules built from Prism Circuits PCBs, a switching power supply, aluminum bus bar power distribution, and perfboard-constructed balanced I/O modules. Panel legends are printed paper with original Serge designs, from files provided by Prism. The right two panels follow the same scheme, with a mix of Serge and Serge-inspired modules built from CGS PCBs. Paperface graphics designed by me, inspired by Serge. The lower chassis contains a similar bus bar power system and threaded rails to mount individual modules. Modules include a Doc Sketchy Freak Shift and Hale/LW Analog Delay, re-paneled Doepfer A-110-4 and WOMS Sinulator, and CGS/perfboard Serge builds with either penciled and clear-coated blanks or Loudest Warning panels. This section also houses an attenuverting gain amp and full wave rectifier, gate-to-trigger converters with OR mix busses, multipliers and summers, and five digital modules, designed and constructed by me on perfboard and aluminum/plastic blanks. The box on the top right is a breakout box for a Sequentix Cirklon CVIO, and the left box is a jack converter.

Digital modules:
Unclocked 7 Bit ADC and DAC (design based on Doc Sketchy's Folding Quantizer)
7 Bit Latch built around a 74HCT373
Window Comparator with 3 bit ADC and DAC built around a CD4532 and CD4528
CD4094 based Shift Register
